BONUS EPISODE 1: RESOLUTIONS + SMART GOALS
It's a new year, and Ally and Kara are ready to take it on! In this episode, our co-hosts talk self-care, resolutions and how they go about setting their goals. Ally’s goals are traditional SMART goals with clear timelines and units of measurement in each goal. Kara's goals are influenced by the SMART model but with her own twist - she uses categories and dependencies to keep her goals focused without being restricted by more arbitrary timelines. As always, they discuss what works for them and why, in a fun and fast(er) conversation to jump start 2021!
RESOURCES:
SMART GOALS DEFINITION SMART is an acronym: S stands for specific to keep the goal focused. M stands for Measurable, which means that you need to be able to apply a unit of measure so that you will have a concrete indicator as to when you have met your goal. A stands for Achievable OR Attainable so that you keep your goals realistic. R stands for Relevant which is all about making sure that your goals align with your life and values. T stands for time bound which is about giving yourself a deadline. Alternate goal structure: Gretchen Rubin’s List Structure from her Happier podcast ALLY’S GOALS 1. I will complete 240 workouts by December 31, 2021 by working towards a goal of 5 30-minute workouts each week. To meet this goal I will use a combination of walking and my Daily Burn class app. 2. Post a video message or reflection on something that I learned once a week on LinkedIn. (Follow Ally on LinkedIn here!) 3. During the YTOS recording schedule, I will check my calendar before committing to outside activities to avoid double-booking myself thereby forcing us to reschedule our recording sessions. (SORRY, KARA!) 4. I will set up my Etsy store and sell 10 products by the end of the year. KARA’S GOALS ENVIRONMENT
